KE ALA HELE MAKALAE – EAST Kauai’s Multi-Use Bike/Walk Coastline Path

9-miles Round Trip from Hele On Kauai Bike Rentals – Old Kapaa Town. Fun Fact: Co-Owner Frannie is a former Miss Kauai

A variety of bike models are available for all ages and sizes, including a Tandem; bike trailers are available for small children.

Reservations highly recommended.

Bring water & snacks; sunscreen (livingkoa.com) and hats.

Recommendations: Have breakfast or lunch at some eateries nearby. SEE Restaurants

After the Bike Ride, cool off with some Hawaiian Shave Ice… add a scoop of ice cream!

SMITH'S FERN GROTTO BOAT TOUR - EAST

Flat Bottom River Boats will cruise Up the Wailua River to the Fern Grotto; disembark for about 20-30 minutes, then return. One-Way will include Musicians; the other way will include Stories & Legends by the Captain. Most people find this trip “under-whelming”; but many like to “chill” on this mellow ride. 1.5 hours total

SMITH'S LUAU - EAST

I always recommend this Luau for families with children... it is the most Keiki-friendly Luau of all the Luaus on this island. Located on a Botanical Garden, next to the Wailua River, admission to the Gardens is included with the Luau Purchase. The Show is performed at the Amphitheatre with the One-of-a-kind Stage set in a lagoon… complete with Volcano and Waterfall. Don’t miss the opening number. This Luau has My Favorite MENU of all the Luaus. Most Popular; Limited Availability.

Recommendation: Do the LAST River Boat Ride at 3:30p; it will bring you back to the Marina just in time for check-in at the Luau, which is located across the parking lot from the Marina.

LYDGATE BEACH PARK - EAST (Search "Free Images of Lydgate Beach" online)

The man-made beach ponds are GREAT for families with children; across the beach road is an Community-Built Playground, with equipment big enough for Adults to play on with their children... swings, bridges, etc. There are No Convenience stores nearby, so packing a cooler would be best... das how locals roll ;)

POIPU BEACH PARK – SOUTH

Snorkeling (rental shop across the street), Boogie Boarding/Body Surfing (Brennecke’s Beach), Small beach pond for toddlers, small playground, pavilions, bbq pits, outdoor fresh water showers/foot rinse, restroom facilities, watch turtles crawl up on the beach at sunset for an overnite respite.

PACK A COOLER--with lots of water, protein snacks, and fresh fruits from Farmer's Markets... Bananas are a great source of Potassium... Apple Bananas are my absolute Favorite! Bring Swimwear, Towels, Beach mats/blankets/chairs, etc.
